For the Holidays...

Ok. So, November's .routes was really great. I was blown away, once again by the turnout. Thanks again for your support. Fully.

So on to the holidays... well, Cafe Nostalgica goes on holiday on the 22nd of Dec. and doesn't reopen until the new year. So. I've decided to leave December and look straight through to January. However, we all get an extra long time to procrastinate, since I've already devised a theme for the January show. Lots of time to ruminate. Anyway. Here's the theme:

Character Building

And well. You see. I envision this 10 story, brick, apartment building on a street called Butternut Lane. 233 Butternut Lane. Anyway. There are 14 apartments of all sizes on each of the floors. Everyone picks an apartment number. I'll figure out what floor you're on at the show, hopefully that'll deal with the gravitational pull some numbers have over others. So. You pick the apartment, then you build a character (or characters) to live there. Like painting, you can paint your character any style you want, whether it's realist, impressionist, cubist, post-modernist, if it is an ist at all. All the same guidelines apply (see left hand column for details).

January's show will occur at 9pm on Monday the 29th @ Cafe Nostalgica - 603 Cumberland. Also, Poetic Intention's first collaboration with the jeff & uhalve publishing house will be presented on the day of the show. Sold for as cheap as possible, anyone will be able to pick up a small book of submitted poem's from November's .routes.

Lastly. I must apologize for having no translation for this site, nor my posters ect. I'm quite monolingual and have yet to establish a translator, for French or any other language. If anyone is interested in doing some translating, I'd gladly accept their help.

How 'bout a little book...?

Ok. So. Thanks to a generous donation towards Poetic Intention's further germination... drumroll... ... ... ... I would like to announce that we will soon be publishing. Yes. Poetic Intention's is now in affiliation with a recently and absolutely unofficially birthed independent enterprise. I'd like to introduce you to: jeff & uhalve publishing house.

Sizzling in the pan is our new endeavor: Poets, if you choose, I'd like to collect a copy of your poems at the end of every show to print in a wee li'll book. A written record of the kinds of amazing shows we've been experiencing.

The books will be sold for the price of production at the following show.

So. I think that looks mighty fine to me. Mighty Fine.

For the Month of November...

This month Poetic Intentions presents: .routes poetry show. Any and all the same guidelines apply (see left hand column of this page for details). Just to be clear: The theme this month, the theme I wish all the poets to respond to in some way or other, is .routes (take it as you will). Same place, same time, date: Nov. 27th. Leave a comment on this post if you want to perform, or contact: poetic_i@hotmail.com. Thanks again for all your support, last month's Poet's Undercover went over like a dream... people were talking about the performances for weeks! So thanks again.

Calling all poets!

If you write, even an inkling, I invite you to bring your poetic intentions to our monthly shows. The intent, the goal, the objective of Poetic Intentions' Poetry Shows are to create a collective performance of original works surrounding a proposed monthly theme. Poetic Intentions' mandate is to build a supportive, inspiring and creative community of writers and literary aficionados. Most importantly, the aim of these evenings is to get people together, have them entertain each other and have everyone going home feeling happily inspired. If you are interested in performing or intend to come as witness to these stunning, hilarious, serious, prolific and original shows, please check this blog at the beginning of every months to find out the date, time and theme of the next show (shows are most often on the last Monday of every month @ Cafe Nostalgica, 603 Cumberland Ave., Ottawa, ON. @ 9pm sharp.). If you have any questions, or want to perform either leave a comment on this post, or contact: poetic_i@hotmail.com.
